Intelligent LED street lighting system solution is unmanned, dark and environmentally friendly

Dutch designer Christian Shuh designed a new streetlight, Tvilight, for the problem of wasting energy. Tvilight has a wireless sensor that detects the presence or absence of passers-by. When there is no one, the street lights are automatically dimmed, operating with minimal energy, leaving only faint light sufficient for the pedestrian or vehicle in the direction to recognize.

The sensor CitySense, invented by Shah and its research team at Delft University of Technology, is able to detect the presence of passers-by and provide 360-degree illumination around the lamppost.
Shahi said: "CitySense has two main functions. It can reduce the brightness of street lights during off-peak hours and detect when someone is present, fully lit and provide illumination."
CitySense is a plug-and-play sensor integrated into the Tvilight lighting system that sends wireless signals to nearby street lights when someone is detected. This intelligent lighting system can be installed with traditional electric lights and LED lights, and is an important step towards creating a more sustainable street.


Third, the status quo of European intelligent lighting
In Europe, electricity spending on street lights accounts for 40% of the total expenditure, and street lights cause 40 million tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to 20 million cars. The emergence of Tvilight helps reduce electricity costs and reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. Shuh's design has been tested in the Netherlands and Ireland.
