ADI introduces the LT8672, an active rectifier controller from Power by Linear™. This innovative device offers reverse input protection up to –40V, making it highly suitable for demanding automotive environments. With a wide input voltage range of 3V to 42V, it supports low input voltages as low as 3.0V and can handle load transients up to 40V—ensuring stable performance during cold start and stop-start conditions.
The LT8672 drives an external N-channel MOSFET with a remarkable 20mV dropout voltage, significantly reducing power consumption by over 90% compared to traditional Schottky diodes. This efficiency eliminates the need for costly heat sinks, resulting in a more compact and cost-effective design. Its ultra-fast transient response makes it ideal for high-frequency AC input ripple rectification, even at 100kHz, meeting the strict requirements of modern automotive systems.
At run time, the LT8672 consumes only 20μA of quiescent current, and just 3.5μA in shutdown mode—making it perfect for always-on applications where minimal power drain is essential. Combined with its MSOP-10 package and external MOSFETs, the solution delivers a small footprint while maintaining high performance and reliability.
In case of an input failure or short, the LT8672 quickly disconnects the circuit to minimize reverse current transients. Additionally, the power good flag pin signals when the external MOSFET is ready to accept load current, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
The LT8672EMS is available in an MSOP-10 package, while the industrial-grade LT8672IMS operates reliably across a broad temperature range of –40°C to 125°C. The LT8672HMS version extends this range even further, operating from –40°C to 150°C.

THE DATA DISPLAY
Press MODE button the data displays as follows:

1). Plug in socket and power on, the meter will display real power.
2). Press MODE button once again and release, the meter will display accumulative KWh.
3). Press MODE button once again and release, the meter will display total power charge.

SETTING PRICE OF COST/KWH
1). Press SET button during display COST/KWH,the first digital COST/KWH flash, press UP button to set it.
2). Press SET button once again and release, the second digital COST/KWH flash, press UP button to set it.
3). Press SET button once again and release, the third COST/KWH flash, press UP button to set it.
4). Press SET button once again and release, the fourth COST/KWH flash, press UP button to set it.
5). Press SET button once again and release, the radix point COST/KWH flash, press UP button to set it.
DATA CLEAR
Press and hold MODE button for 5 seconds will clear KWH,PRICE and COST/KWH data.
