A few days ago, I came across an article about the Das Keyboard 4, which is actually the sixth generation of this series. Interestingly, some articles mistakenly referred to it as the fourth generation of the Qing axis keyboard, but the "4" in the product name doesn't indicate the fourth generation.
The Das Keyboard 4 with the large knob is truly a classic; its design has become iconic. In contrast, the Das Keyboard Model S, which is the fourth generation, differs fundamentally from the sixth-generation model. If you're curious, you can try both the Das Keyboard 4 and the Model S.
The packaging is straightforward, with the product image printed directly on the white front, and not much extra decoration on the sides.
On the back, there's a detailed product description. Unfortunately, my English skills aren't great, so I had some trouble understanding it fully.
When unboxing the Das Keyboard Model S, you'll find the keyboard itself, an adapter, a manual, and a cleaning cloth.
From the front, the Das Keyboard Model S looks quite similar to the Das Keyboard 4, except that it lacks the multimedia buttons and the large knob in the upper right corner.
The mirror finish feels luxurious, though it’s prone to collecting fingerprints. To combat this, the product comes with a cleaning cloth.
The top right corner features a USB hub design. This feature began with the Model S, so it uses a 2.0 interface, whereas the Das Keyboard 4 uses a 3.0 interface.
Connecting two RGB peripherals is stable, and there’s no need to worry about power shortages since the data cable connects directly to the hub.
The back of the Das Keyboard 4 is quite different from the Model S. While the Model S is boxier and has a later-added magnetic ruler, the Das Keyboard 4 has a foothold design.
The anti-slip effect is excellent, and the keyboard stays firmly in place on the desk.
The height of the feet is significantly improved, making it sturdy and preventing any wobbling.

The keycaps are almost identical between the Das Keyboard Model S and the Das Keyboard 4, except that the Model S includes multimedia key patterns, and the character layout in the F area is slightly adjusted.
Now, let’s talk about the new Green Axis that's currently available. I won’t go into too much detail, but I must say it’s impressive!
Why is this like a blue axis artifact? The large key demonstrates everything. Actually, I don’t understand why Das Keyboard moved the large key position to the satellite axis after this, while still keeping the space of the satellite axis. In fact, the space is the most important part. Normal typing largely relies on the spacebar to confirm word selection, so its usage frequency is much higher than other large keys. I always pay special attention to the spacebar during my personal keyboard training. The longest length of the spacebar means the rebound for the axis will be more challenging than other keys, so the auxiliary satellite shaft or balance bar will significantly affect the feel.
The balance bar is a great addition. It’s like a gospel for tactile axis enthusiasts, and it’s less bulky than a satellite shaft. So why do easy-to-use blue axis keyboards often use balance bars or satellite shafts? This has to do with how manufacturers tune their products.
Overall, I’m still quite satisfied with the Model S.
