ERG launches new LED driver board
Endicott Research Group (ERG), a manufacturer of LCD backlight power supplies, has introduced two new LED driver boards that provide a compact and cost-effective solution for OEM panel designers who want to maximize display performance.
The new SFDK series is a high efficiency, dual output driver board with connectors on both sides of the PCB. It is a cost-effective plug-and-play solution that drives LED backlights for LCDs up to 22 inches diagonally. In addition to standard wire-to-board connections, the SFDK also offers FPC (table compatible) plugs. The interface between the driver and the panel is realized by a single-core 0.5 mm flat cable (FFC), which is based on the display, with 6, 8, 10 or 12 cores. Its maximum output current is 320mA, which can drive up to 8 LED strings and up to 4 LEDs on each side.
The SFDK is a small form factor with a height of only 8 mm and a length and width of only 4.59 inches (116.5 mm) and 1.15 inches (29.2 mm). It has a stable brightness output over a wide input voltage range (10-20V, also 5V version); external PWM enables 500:1 dimming; compatible with a wide range of OEM LED backlights.
ERG's SFD2E LED driver is a new version of the ERG compact SFDE driver (E stands for economy), which delivers high power in a compact board form. Ideal for high-power, high-brightness LED backlights for 10.4 to 24 inch diagonal LCDs, the driver can efficiently drive up to 8 LED strings with a single 480mA maximum current output. It has the following features: wide input voltage (8-20V), external PWM for 500:1 dimming, and 255:1 on-board dimming. The shape of the SFD2E is 1.115 inches (28.32 mm) wide, 4.585 inches (116.5 mm) long, and less than 10 mm high. It has a J12 output connector compatible with FFC/FPC. The SFD2E is compatible with a wide range of OEM LCD panels.
The SFDK and SFD2E series driver boards are designed and manufactured in the United States and are also supported in the United States with a one-year warranty. Volume pricing for the SFDK and SFD2E series drives is approximately $20. The delivery period is generally 4-6 weeks after the order is placed.
