Color rendering and color rendering index related knowledge

The ability of a light source to develop an object is called color rendering, and is a comparison of the appearance color of an object with a reference to the same color temperature or a reference light source (incandescent or painted). The spectral content emitted by the light determines the color of the light source, but the same light color can be made up of many, a few or even only two monochromatic light waves, and the color rendering of each color is also very different. Light sources of the same color have different spectral compositions, and light sources with a wider spectral composition are more likely to provide better color rendering quality.

When the source spectrum has little or no main wave reflected by the object under the reference source, the color produces a significant color shift. The greater the degree of chromatic aberration, the worse the color rendering of the color by the light source. The color rendering index coefficient (Kaufman) is still a common method for defining the color rendering of light sources.

Color rendering

Faithful color development: It is necessary to use the light source with a high color rendering index (Ra) to correctly represent the original color of the material. The value is close to 100, and the color rendering is best.

Effect color development: To emphasize the specific color clearly, the life that expresses beauty can use the additive color method to enhance the color development effect. Irradiation with a low color temperature light source can make the red more vivid; using a medium color temperature light source to make the blue have a cool feeling; using a high color temperature light source to make the object have a cold feeling.

Relationship between color rendering index and color rendering When there is little or no main wave reflected by the object under the reference light source in the spectrum of the light source, the color will produce a significant color shift. The greater the degree of chromatic aberration, the color development of the color by the light source. The worse the sex. The color rendering index coefficient (Kau fman) is still a common method for defining the color rendering of light sources.

The color rendering index of an incandescent lamp is defined as 100 and is considered to be the ideal reference source. The system is tested with 8 chromatographic standard color samples, and the degree of Deviation of the 8 colors under the test light source and the same color temperature is compared to measure the color rendering index of the light source, and the average deviation value is taken. Ra20-100, with 100 being the highest, the larger the average color difference, the lower the Rr value. Light sources below 20 are generally not suitable for general use.

Index (Ra) grade color rendering general application
90-100 1A Excellent Locations requiring precise color contrast
80-89 1B Good place where color is judged correctly
60-79 2 Normal Locations requiring moderate color rendering
40-59 3 Not good For places with low color rendering and small color difference
20-39 4 Poor Locations that have no specific requirements for color rendering
