Most of the robot's touch sensors only have force detectors, so they can only detect the hardness and texture of the object, which makes the robot's recognition of foreign objects very low precision. It is this principle that Professor Joshua Wade, Tapomayukh Bhattacharjee and Charlie Kemp from Georgia Institute of Technology held at the IROS conference in Seoul, South Korea last month to showcase their "temperature" skin for robots.
