Built in 1983, BC Place is located in the heart of Vancouver, British Columbia. It is a multi-purpose gymnasium that combines sports, music, culture, groups and exhibitions.

The venue has been refurbished in 2008, including the restrooms, competition venues, canteens and suites. The refurbishment is a priority for the 2010 Winter Olympics and the Olympic Games. However, once the Olympics were over, the inflatable dome was deflated, and the stadium was forced to close for a new round of large-scale renewal projects.

The stadium operator BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo) believes that this renovation is an excellent opportunity to not only change the structure of the building itself, but also to change the look of the venue inside and outside, giving customers a new experience.

The $563 million renewal project consists of two main elements, a giant cable and a mast that supports a large movable roof (the roof is the largest roof of the same type in the world); and a semi-transparent polymer ETFE that is placed The outer wall between the original structure and the new roof. When the weather is fine, the audience can participate in an open-air stadium to see the distant urban landscape. Residents in the adjacent buildings and surrounding areas can also view the activities in the venue and see the HD scorer in the center of the venue.

During the day, the roof and exterior walls are designed to allow natural light sources to flow into the venue. However, the third major element – the LED light – is given to this new construction life. The application of LED lights has increased the communication between people and space, day or night.
