Vishay Launches Ultra-Low Profile Infrared Receiver for Remote Control

A few days ago, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. Announced the expansion of its optoelectronic product portfolio with the introduction of remote receivers with the industry's best size and light sensitivity. The new TSOP57x series includes the TSOP572. . TSOP573. . TSOP574. . And TSOP575. . The device, with an ultra-low height of 0.8mm, is one of the lowest-level products on the market today, and the light-sensing angle has reached an astonishing 150°. The receiver has Vishay's signature high sensitivity, allowing a receiver distance of 40 meters.

Flat-panel LCDs and plasma TVs are becoming thinner and thinner, meaning that the components inside the TV also need to be thinner, but they cannot lose performance. Not only do TVs require low-profile infrared receivers, but set-top boxes, stereos, and room air conditioners also require infrared receivers in a very limited area.

Vishay's TSOP57x infrared receiver is just enough to meet this market demand. Its height is only 0.8mm, which is even thinner than home door keys. The new TSOP57x infrared receiver has no lens and its coaxial sensitivity is comparable to that of any surface mount receiver on the market.

At an off-axis angle of 45°, the sensitivity of the receiver is much better than that of other devices with a lens, equivalent to 85% of the sensitivity of other devices in the coaxial case. Since the remote receiver is placed behind a decorative window that typically absorbs some infrared light, this high sensitivity makes the TSOP57x series surpass other commercially available surface mount receivers.

The receiver features Vishay's intelligent automatic gain control (AGC) features, including AGC2, -3, -4, and -5 versions, providing the industry's best noise suppression capabilities. The receiver has a peak sensitivity of 940 nm and modulation frequencies of 36 kHz, 38 kHz, 40 kHz, and 56 kHz.

The devices are made of environmentally friendly "green" materials that meet the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and meet the requirements of WEEE 2002/96/EC.
