The brain of the mobile phone - the inventory of the mainstream processor

At present, all kinds of mobile phones on the market have hit the eye. In this era of hardware competition, there is no dual-core 1.0G processor. You dare not take out the mobile phone. The dual-core of Qualcomm, TI, Nvidia, Samsung and other manufacturers. Three-core and even quad-core processors are gradually becoming popular in the market. As consumers, how should we choose mobile phones? So how do we choose the many brands of processors? Let's take a look at the popular processors on the market.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Snapdragon processor

Founded in July 1985, Qualcomm was founded with a focus on providing project research and development services for the wireless communications industry, leading the way in CDMA technology. Qualcomm Snapdragon Snapdragon processor is a mobile phone chip launched by Qualcomm Group. Due to its fast processing speed, low power consumption, leading wireless communication technology and high integration, it has become the largest smartphone chipset in the market.

Snapdragon has many functions in one.

Qualcomm Snapdragon has developed into a four-generation product. The performance from low to high is S1, S2, S3, and S4. Each new generation of products has higher performance and lower power consumption. And each generation has a different positioning.

Qualcomm Snapdragon S1

The Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 is a processor developed for today's mass-market smartphones and is the world's first mobile single-core product to reach 1GHz. The 65nm process is integrated with the Adreno 200 graphics processing unit (GPU), which stands for the QSD8650/8250. The QSD8650/8250 uses the Scorpion core and is clocked at 1GHz. Scropion was modified by Qualcomm on the basis of the Cortex-A8. The feature is that Scropion saves about 30% energy consumption compared to A8 at the same frequency, or 25% higher frequency with the same power consumption. Later S2 and S3 are all based on the Scorpion core. Representative model: HTC Desire.

Qualcomm Snapdragon S2

Snapdragon S2 is a second-generation processor designed by Qualcomm for high-end single-core smartphones. It features a newly designed and optimized multimedia subsystem. S2 all adopts 45nm process technology, the main frequency is upgraded to 1.4GHz, integrated Adreno205 GPU, supports HSPA+ high-speed network, and supports 720p HD video playback. And the power consumption is 30% lower than the first generation processor. The second generation processor represents the model number MSM8655/8255. Representative models: Sony Ericsson LT18i and HTC Desire S.

Qualcomm Snapdragon S3

Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 is the world's first mobile asynchronous dual-core product with a computing speed of up to 1.5GHz for high-end dual-core smartphones. S3 still uses the 45nm process. Due to the asynchronous processing method, it has obvious advantages in terms of energy consumption compared to other dual-core processors. S3 integrates the Adreno 220 graphics processor, supports 3D/2D graphics engine using Open GLES 2.0 and Open VG 1.1 technology, supports 1080p video playback, and supports up to 16 megapixel camera. The overall performance has increased nearly doubled. Representative model: MSM8260/8660. Representative models: HTC SensaTIon, Xiaomi mobile phone, Sony LT26i.

Adreno performance improvement

Qualcomm Snapdragon S4

Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 is Qualcomm's latest generation of processors, featuring a new architecture codenamed Krait. The Snapdragon S4 processor is the industry's first mobile processor to use the latest 28nm processing technology. Power and size compression have inherent advantages.

The Snapdragon S4 has a new quad-core, dual-core and single-core chipset. The family includes the single-core MSM8930, dual-core MSM8960, and quad-core APQ8064, each running at up to 2.5GHz, which is 150% better overall than current ARM-based CPU cores and reduces power consumption by 65%.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 integrates the Adreno 225 graphics processor. As you can see from the above picture, the new GPU has a 50% performance improvement over the Adreno 220 and a 5x improvement over the Adreno 200. Support 3D display and 1080p HD decoding, support 3G and LTE multi-mode signal processing. In addition, the Snapdragon S4 also incorporates augmented reality capabilities, bringing new opportunities for new mobile applications and services.

Measurement data can be sent via PufangTech`s RS485 Wireless Modem for point to point or point to multi-point data communication with a range of 1km to 50km. It provides a transparent half duplex radio serial connection wirelessly operating in VHF/UHF frequency band.

The parameters of the wireless modems can be configured through the local serial port using Windows based software.  The individual configuration parameters can be stored on PC for future use.

PufangTech wireless modem equipped with LEDs which enable the operator to see at a glance the status of the modem and its interfaces.  The LEDs provide the operator with a quick visual check and if the modem is in normal operation, configuration or alarm status.

RS485 Wireless Modem is developed for remote supervision and control applications. Typical target applications such as slave stations of oil, gas and water pipelines, environmental monitoring, street light control, wastewater pumping stations and OEM applications.
