On March 14, the Shenghong China Fiber Trend 2018/2019 conference took place at the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Shanghai. Organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Consumer Products Industry Division, the China Chemical Fiber Industry Association, and Donghua University, the event was sponsored by the Textile and Chemical Fiber Product Development Center and co-organized by Jiangsu Guowang Hi-Tech Fibers Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shenghong Group. The conference served as a platform for showcasing the latest advancements in the textile industry and highlighted Shenghong’s commitment to innovation and transformation.
As the textile industry evolves with the rise of big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, Shenghong has positioned intelligent manufacturing as a core strategic goal. By integrating smart technologies and information systems, the company is transforming traditional manufacturing into a modern, high-end industrial model. This shift not only enhances productivity but also sets a new direction for sustainable growth in the sector.
One of the key challenges in smart manufacturing is avoiding over-reliance on equipment. At the spinning workshop of China National High-Tech, automation has significantly reduced human involvement. With just two workers monitoring operations, machines work seamlessly: automatic winders, robotic doffing systems, and intelligent transporters streamline the entire process. These innovations have transformed what once required manual labor into a highly efficient, fully automated workflow.
This is part of the first domestic intelligent logistics system for chemical fiber production, developed through a collaboration between Shenghong Chemical Fiber and the Beijing Institute of Automation Machinery in 2010. The system addresses critical technical challenges, fills a domestic gap, and enhances China's independent research and development capabilities in large-scale intelligent logistics systems. It has also disrupted traditional market pricing models and service approaches, both domestically and internationally.
Shenghong doesn’t simply rely on imported equipment; instead, it adapts and improves technology to meet its specific needs. For instance, after acquiring an Italian-made elastic processing system, the company faced limitations in performance. Rather than paying exorbitant fees for software updates, Shenghong’s team worked independently to optimize the machine, achieving full automation across multiple stages. Today, this innovation is being adopted by competitors, proving the effectiveness of Shenghong’s approach.
The shift to smart manufacturing has led to significant cost savings and efficiency gains. According to Mei Feng, chief engineer at Shenghong Chemical Fiber, the implementation of smart workshops has saved approximately 15 million yuan annually, reduced labor costs by 34%, and improved unit output by nearly 30%. The success of these initiatives has positioned Shenghong as a leader in the industry.
With state-of-the-art equipment and world-class production lines, China National High-Tech has optimized every stage of the production process. From doffing to packaging, automation has eliminated inefficiencies, increased accuracy, and boosted product quality. The reduction in human interference has also minimized errors, leading to a 2.5% increase in the rate of high-quality products.
Moreover, the integration of IoT technology allows real-time monitoring and control from any device, making the production process more flexible and responsive. By combining advanced technology, management systems, and IT solutions, Shenghong ensures a holistic approach to smart manufacturing that enhances overall competitiveness.
In 2017, the company invested 20 million yuan in deepening the integration of enterprise intelligence and information technology. This initiative has streamlined operations, improved transparency, and enhanced decision-making. Looking ahead, Shenghong continues to invest in cutting-edge projects, such as the 300,000-ton differentiated fiber smart project, which will introduce world-leading equipment and drive the industry toward smarter, more sustainable growth.
