With the launch of the 5G pilot project in Beijing, a wave of interest has spread across the country. It has been reported that seven major cities have already submitted applications for 5G trials. Based on this momentum, it is anticipated that by the end of 2018, the key components of the 5G industry chain will reach a pre-commercial stage, paving the way for broader adoption.
On February 7th, according to the "Beijing Big Data and Cloud Computing Development Action Plan (2016-2020)," Beijing aims to achieve full coverage of 4G networks by 2020. Additionally, areas such as the Beijing City Sub-center, the 2019 Shiyuanhui Park, Beijing New Airport, and venues for the 2022 Winter Olympics are expected to take the lead in demonstrating 5G network capabilities.

Zhang Boxu, Director of the Beijing Municipal Economic Information Commission, stated that from a technical standpoint, the 5G trial in Beijing is largely prepared. He noted that once the relevant standards are officially released, the country will be ready to enter the 5G market. Currently, 5G testing is underway at the Huairou test site.
From a national perspective, the main links of the 5G industry chain are expected to reach the pre-commercial stage by the end of 2018. According to China Unicom, 5G trials are set to begin in seven cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Nanjing, and Xiongan. These trials will involve submitting detailed applications to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, marking a significant step forward in the nation's 5G development strategy.
