Leonardo DRS teamed up with SOTI to develop commercial infrared business

Leonardo DRS has recently entered into a strategic partnership with Sierra Olympic Technologies (SOTI), appointing it as the primary distributor of its commercial uncooled infrared camera movements within the United States. This agreement is expected to allow Leonardo DRS to concentrate more on advancing its uncooled infrared technology, while SOTI will handle sales and distribution for OEM clients across various military and civilian applications. Under this collaboration, SOTI will be responsible for promoting and distributing the Tamarisk® series of uncooled infrared camera movements, which are widely used in security, surveillance, personal vision, and consumer automotive sectors. The partnership aims to strengthen the development of next-generation infrared sensors and enhance customer support through SOTI's expertise in delivering innovative products and exceptional service. Shawn Black, Vice President and General Manager of the Optoelectronics & Infrared Systems Division at Leonardo DRS, commented: "This agreement ensures our U.S. customers continue to benefit from reliable support by trusted industry partners. It also allows us to focus on product innovation and global expansion. We see significant opportunities in expanding our international partnerships with OEMs, especially in security, surveillance, and automotive markets." Founded in 1995, SOTI has been a key player in the thermal imaging industry, offering both cooled and uncooled infrared solutions. Since 2003, the company has provided early versions of DRS’s uncooled infrared movements, which later evolved into the Tamarisk® product line. With decades of experience in focal plane array technology and design capabilities, SOTI has established itself as a valuable partner to Leonardo DRS in serving existing customers and exploring new market segments. Chris Johnston, President of SOTI, said: "We're excited to collaborate with Leonardo DRS and believe that our sales expertise and proven business model make us an ideal choice for their leading infrared product lines." Leonardo DRS continues to sell its uncooled infrared sensors and camera movements directly to defense contractors, U.S. forces, and allies, supporting ongoing and future projects. The company remains committed to working closely with research labs and pursuing international business opportunities in both military and commercial sectors. **About SOTI** SOTI is a leader in thermal imaging technology, providing cameras, components, and system solutions for infrared users and integrators.
