Targeting Power over Ethernet (PoE): CUI's 3kW Platinum Front End Ac-Dc Power Supply
Tuvalerton, Oregon, USA - July 22, 2015 — CUI Inc. announced the expansion of its 3000 W front-end ac-dc power supply family with the addition of the PSE-3000-54 power supply for Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. This power preset has an output of 54 Vdc and a factory-tunable 42 V to 55 V output for a wide range of telecom and networking applications. Key features include N+1 redundancy and a single connector that integrates ac, dc, and I/O signals for hot-swappable blind docking. The PSE-3000-54 delivers 33.48 W/cubic inch power density and achieves platinum efficiency in a compact standard 1U package measuring only 1.6 x 4 x 14 inches (40.64 x 101.6 x 355.6 mm) (efficiency at 50% load) 94%).
The PSE-3000-54's main 54 Vdc output delivers up to 55.5 A current, with multiple devices connected in parallel by droop current sharing, and provides floating outputs and 1500 Vrms isolation features specifically for PoE applications. For module monitoring and control, the PSE-3000-54 has system communication via the I2C/PMBusTM protocol. For maximum flexibility, the series offers front-to-back or back-to-front airflow configurations based on the cooling needs of the application. In addition, the PSE-3000-54 provides a 3.3 Vdc or 5 Vdc standby output at 2A, a 60950-1 safety certification and CE mark, and meets all applicable EMC requirements for use anywhere in the world. Standard configurations include overvoltage, overcurrent, overtemperature, and input undervoltage protection.
The PSE-3000-54 features an optional 1U 19" rack to carry up to four power supplies for 12 kW parallel operation, 9 KW N+1 redundant operation, or dual 6 KW "A" and "B" output channels Operation. The Dc output terminal module can be configured to be unipolar or bipolar.
The CUI is also available with a user-adjustable 20 V to 54 V output on request.
