Design and Research of a New Embedded Machine Vision System

The machine vision system is a non-contact optical sensing system. It integrates both hardware and software and automatically acquires information or generates control actions from acquired images. Since its inception, the machine vision has been 15 years old. It has experienced three stages: digital circuit composition, PC and output device, and embedded. Among them, the embedded machine vision system relies on professional computer technology and has more real-time. The task operating system, high-efficiency compression chip and powerful microprocessor can all be used to integrate video compression, transmission and processing into the chip. After internal processing, it can be directly connected to Ethernet or WAN to complete real-time remote monitoring of the network. One of the current research hotspots.

In domestic and foreign research, there are three main ways to implement embedded machine vision systems:

(1) Based on a standard bus, a DSP is used as a system for computing and controlling a processor. Although the DSP chip can handle a large amount of information and high-speed operation, its I/O interface is single, difficult to expand, and its control ability is weak, and there are still some limitations.

(2) Machine vision system based on DSP+FPGA. The combination of FPGA and DSP can realize wideband signal processing and greatly improve signal processing speed. However, FPGA uses hardware description language, and its algorithm development has great difficulty. The function implementation is controlled by hardware, and the system is greatly affected by the environment.

(3) Machine vision system using ARM microprocessor or ARM+DSP construction method. This construction method has powerful human-computer interaction function, high integration, good real-time performance and multi-tasking, but ARM and DSP in the system. The data exchange method still uses external circuit connections, which increases the instability of the system.

Combining the advantages and disadvantages of the above technical solutions, this paper proposes a new machine vision system to achieve high-speed acquisition and storage of image information.

Its core chip selects TI's latest advanced dual-core embedded chip, integrates ARM processor and DSP processor into one chip, and completes the coordination between ARM and DSP through software programming. The machine vision processing system developed by the chip, with the excellent control performance of the ARM processor embedded in the Linux system, and the powerful computing processing capability of the DSP will ensure the system has good real-time and stability, which can be machine vision. Research and applications provide a good platform for video capture and processing hardware.

1, system function

The system is a high-speed image data acquisition and storage system, which can be realized by software and hardware design: two-way resolution 640 & TImes; 480, frame rate 60 f / s, 12 b / pixel; one channel resolution 1 024 & TImes; 1 024, frame rate 60 f/s, 12 b/pixel three-way input signal real-time acquisition. As shown in Figure 1, the system controls the image sensor through the serial port, so that the three-way image data signal, clock and various synchronization signals are input as required, and the system sequentially performs image signal acquisition, data processing, and storage. The system utilizes its own interface to achieve more functions such as display, host computer communication, keyboard control, etc., enabling friendly human-machine dialogue.
