Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) recently released "2012 China IC design industry status report." It is estimated that the global proportion of China's IC design industry will reach 13.61% this year and the output value will reach RMB 68 billion, an increase of 8.98% year-on-year.

According to the GSA survey, in 2012, China's IC design industry accounted for 13.61% of the global IC design industry. Although the overall scale is still relatively small, in the long term, China's huge domestic demand market and the potential for having a large number of engineering talents have attracted global attention.

According to GSA, this year's IC design industry sales in China are estimated to reach 68 billion yuan (more than 10.8 billion US dollars), an increase of 8.98% year-on-year. Although the global semiconductor market faces many challenges today, China will play an important role in the growth of the global market in the coming years.

The GSA emphasized that as the uncertainty of the semiconductor industry entering the "post-Moore era" increases, the definition of the technology route is gradually blurring. In the face of such changes, China's IC design companies should do well in preparation, including those mentioned in the report, comprehensively enhance physical design capabilities, establish strong design teams, and so on.

As the high investment in advanced processes will make the relationship between IC design companies and wafer fabs closer, GSA Analyst IC design companies should establish new strategic partnerships with fabs; the innovative capability of small and medium-sized IC design companies continues It is one of the key factors for the success of the "post-Moore era."

Twelve Five IC Design Launches Products Will Speed ​​Up

Except for the government's subsidy to the semiconductor industry on fiscal and taxation, some local governments and their parks have created semiconductor industry settlements and provided subsidies and financial support to the semiconductor industry. The regions that provided financial support to semiconductor companies as of January 2013 included seven cities including Dalian, Tianjin, Jinan, Shanghai, Suzhou, Xiamen and Dongguan.

It is worth noting that these 7 cities are all in the coastal provinces, among which are foundries in Tianjin, Shanghai and Suzhou, and Dalian, Jinan, Xiamen, and Dongguan (near Shenzhen also have Founder 6-inch wafers. The factory) is the terminal product manufacturing center and can provide services to the system customers in the nearest place. In fact, Wuxi City also provided subsidies and support to semiconductor companies. However, the program was terminated in November 2012. It will be observed if a new subsidy scheme is proposed for semiconductor companies in the future.

However, inland cities including Wuhan and Chongqing have not provided any subsidy or tax incentives to semiconductor companies by January 2013, which is expected to make the semiconductor industry's intentions for the West into the 12th Five-Year Plan more conservative.

In addition, only Shanghai has subsidized the IC manufacturing industry in a special way, and fiscal subsidies for fiscal and taxation or other areas in seven cities including Shanghai are only targeted at IC design companies, which also shows that for the IC design industry in the entire region. Universal support.

The subsidy measures provided by the local government and the park to the IC design industry will help shape the formation of the mainland design industry and speed up the IC design industry's introduction of new IC products and the formation of new IC design settlements.

As for local government and industrial parks providing IC design industry listing fee subsidies and listing incentives, it will be beneficial to accelerate the listing of mainland IC design companies. It is also expected that the number of listed IC design companies will continue to increase during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.
