TI Introduces High Efficiency 25W Digital Audio Power Amplifier TAS5727

21ic Texas Instruments (TI) announced a 25 W digital audio power amplifier for driving stereo bridged speakers. The TAS5727 has a 32% smaller RDS(on) than the previous generation, reducing overall case temperature by 20%. In addition, dual-band dynamic range compression also supports audio processing in two different frequency bands to address the sound quality limitations of small speakers. The TAS5727 helps designers create high-efficiency, low-heat designs in smaller packages than ever before, meeting the needs of the HDTV and sound bar markets.

Key Features and Benefits • 75 milliohms RDS(ON) is 32% smaller than previous generations, providing excellent thermal performance with a 20% overall case temperature reduction, supporting an ultra-thin design with 25 W maximum output power;
• Dual-band Dynamic Range Compression (DRC) supports audio processing in two different bands and can be seamlessly integrated into most digital audio processors such as the TMS320DA708. The DRC can be used as a power limiter for speaker protection and night listening modes;

Convenient implementation of PurePathTM wireless audio
Compatible with the TI CC8520 PurePathTM Wireless Audio System-on-Chip (SoC), the TAS5727 easily sets the wireless capabilities of a thin flat-panel TV. The CC8520 provides a reliable wireless audio link for 16-bit 44.1/48 KHz uncompressed CD-quality audio without any noise or loss. The CC8520 can control and configure the TAS5727 through I2C, and can also wirelessly send digital audio data as I2S data output directly to the TAS5727. For easy prototyping of wireless speakers, the TAS5727EVM development kit can be connected to the CC8520 development kit.
