China has made remarkable progress in developing its cloud computing industry. At the National Cloud Computing Work Conference held on October 11, Chen Xiongxiong highlighted that the industry has grown rapidly, with technological innovation advancing and applications deepening. This has supported mass entrepreneurship and innovation, bringing substantial economic and social benefits.
He further urged local authorities to follow the guidelines of the "Three-Year Action Plan for Cloud Computing Development (2017–2019)" and implement specific measures to accelerate technological upgrades and enhance industrial capabilities. He also called for deeper industry applications and improved development environments to promote the overall growth of China’s cloud computing sector.
At the 2017 Hangzhou Yunqi Conference, Hu Xiaoming, President of Alibaba Cloud, stated that cloud computing has become a vital infrastructure for China’s internet. Alibaba Cloud, as one of the fastest-growing cloud providers globally, not only supports domestic innovation but also helps businesses worldwide embrace digital transformation.
With continued government support, the cloud computing industry is becoming more structured and clear in its direction. Globally, China and the U.S. are leading the way in cloud computing development, setting the pace for other nations. This period represents a “golden window†for China’s cloud industry. Experts believe that China should seize this “Golden Decade†by focusing on standards, ecosystem development, and real-world applications to capture a stronger global position.
Chen Xiongxiong stressed again that deepening applications is essential to speed up the industry’s growth. By focusing on enterprise cloud adoption, local authorities should establish supportive systems, guide enterprises, and promote gradual and planned transitions toward cloud-based operations. This will help accelerate China’s cloud computing industry and contribute significantly to building a strong and network-powered nation.
