October global chip sales of 26.3 billion US dollars

According to foreign media reports, the latest data released by the Semiconductor Industry Association shows that in October global chip sales were 26.3 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 19.8 percent compared to the same period last year of 22 billion U.S. dollars.

So far this year, global chip sales have reached 248 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 37% compared with sales of 181.2 billion U.S. dollars last year.

Brian Toohey, president of SIA, said that moderate sales pace is consistent with the seasonal pattern and that by the end of the year, this sales trend will continue. Future growth is expected to be driven by the needs of developing countries. Compared with September, the fastest growing global chip sales in October was in Europe. In October, European chip sales increased by 3.3% month-on-month. In October, chip sales in the Asia-Pacific region fell by nearly 1%.
