The OLED display is a true LED display, which is a self-illuminating material display. In fact, LED self-illumination displays have been around for more than a decade, but at the time most of them used foreign chips, but most of them are already domestic chips. Now both the MiniLED and the MicroLED are also LED self-illumination technology.

In fact, three years ago, Apple's news made MicroLED enter a big field of vision, it will be applied to mobile phones or watches, and the concept is suddenly hot. Of course, there are still many technical thresholds for realizing this application, such as transfer technology, control technology, repair technology and so on. Because of all kinds of difficulties, the concept of MiniLED display rises. It is between small pitch and MicroLED, which can be realized on the existing basis, and does not need to solve the technical problems caused by batch transfer and so on. .

Everyone has higher expectations for MiniLED, which will be used in TV, mobile, car display, digital display, advertising and so on. It is expected to have a market of $1.07 billion in 2025. This allows the mobile phone display to be within one millimeter and has a good HDR display at a lower cost than OLED. However, in order to realize the application of MiniLED in backlight, there are still some technical problems to be solved. One of the key technologies is the adjustment of its light output.

The transfer of MiniLED is not complicated by the transfer of MicroLED. MiniLED can be processed under existing equipment, and traditional testing and sorting can also be done. Of course, all companies are looking for some way to transfer chips in batches, because after all, there are more chips, and more batch transfers are needed.

MicroLED has certain advantages over OLED in terms of contrast, response time and viewing angle. The only problem is cost. Thanks to these advantages of MicroLED, it can be widely used in various display fields, including large-size TVs, cinemas, small-sized ARs, VRs, wearables, and so on. The main reason for its high cost is its repair cost. MicroLED currently does not have an accurate test and sorting method, so its overall extension and chip transfer yield is closely related to cost. If the yield is not high, it needs to be repaired several times, which will lead to an increase in the overall cost.

At present, the technology of MiniLED flip-chip RGB can be mass-produced in batches. The application of MiniLED backlight is mature. MicroLED is still in the process of R&D. It needs some joint development. It is expected that there will be preliminary products coming out next year, but Its wide range of applications will take longer.
