China's first bid to promote LED

On November 24, the National Development and Reform Commission announced that 28 companies producing semiconductor (LED) lighting products, including Beijing Longport Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. and Philips (China) Investment Co., Ltd., won the bid for the first LED lighting products organized by the Central Government. The 28 short-listed companies' products include LED road/tunnel lights, LED downlights, and reflective self-ballasted LED lights. According to reports, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and the Ministry of Transport jointly organized demonstration projects for the application of semiconductor lighting products, and organized an open tender on November 10 this year.
