Toshiba releases split smart glasses dynaEdge: runs on Windows 10 Professional PC
Toshiba's "dynaEdge" AR glasses, which are displayed to the corporate world, are inconspicuous, but can be run on Windows 10 professional personal PCs.
Today, Toshiba showed an AR glasses called “dynaEdge†to the corporate world. This non-sexy eyewear is inconspicuous in many ways, and what sets it apart is that it actually has a full Windows 10 professional personal PC connected to it.
The product, priced at $1,899, is basically a Google Glass headset made up of Vuzix and a battery-powered Windows 10 PC with a sixth-generation Intel processor.
This pair of glasses fits only one eye and the user can easily push the display out. It optimizes factory tasks, which means it's great for checking lists and viewing images. This design won't win any style points, but it can be easily mounted on a hard hat, and you don't have to keep it in front of your eyes, so in theory it's not as invasive as other products.
The system is dedicated to video conferencing, uses an embedded camera for video capture, or saves time by displaying a set of instructions for the wearer on the small opaque display at the corner of the wearer's line of sight. The system is based on Windows and includes an optional fingerprint sensor so it can meet the security requirements of some businesses.
With an AR-optimized interface look, enterprise customers can easily browse PDF files, stream the videos they are viewing in real time, and scan items using QR tags.
