Ten City Wanhao Project Progress Research Report
Since the launch of the Ten Cities Wanhao Project, LED street lights have begun to be used in large scale applications. What is the progress of the ten-city project in the middle of 2009? Is LED street lighting technology able to shoulder the heavy responsibility of “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities� How high is the current localization of LED street lights? What is the current status of domestic LED street light companies? The author has investigated these issues.
How many lights were installed in the 21st city in 2009?
Among the 21 pilot cities in the “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities†in 2009, the installed LED street lights (including tunnel lights) were approximately 222,000 baht. Among them, 35,000 in Weifang, 25,000 in Chongqing, 28,000 in Wuhan, and 15,000 in Yangzhou, the sum of the installed lights in the four cities is 103,000, accounting for nearly half of the total. Most cities in 2009 are still in the pilot phase of the project and are expected to be rolled out in large numbers in the next year.

How many lights will be installed in 2009-2011?
According to the relevant plans of each city, it is estimated that the number of LED street lights installed in 21 cities will reach 1.12 million 2009 in 2009-2011. At that time, many large cities began to install lights on a large scale. The cities with more lights were Shenzhen, Weifang, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, and Xi'an. The lights in these six cities reached 540,000, accounting for about half of the total. Cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Foshan, Suzhou, and Huizhou will also begin to install lights on a large scale. It is expected that the total installed capacity will reach 1.5 million.

In the specific plan of “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Milesâ€, the state explicitly requested to increase the proportion of localization. The specific details are as follows: 1. In the pilot phase, the target ratio of localization of LED streetlight parts in 2009 is 60%; 2. In the demonstration stage (2010~2012), the localization target of LED streetlight parts is 70% (from media reports, official documents) Did not see the above statement).
The high-tech LED survey found that the localization rate of some products is close to 100%, such as heat dissipation, reflectors, lenses, etc. However, some products are less than 10% localized, such as light sources. The cost of light source accounts for more than 50% of the cost of street lamps.
1. The light source found in 40 companies that domestic LED street lamp companies rarely use domestic chips. Chip manufacturers with large market share include Cree, Philips LumiLEDs, OSRAM, Nichia and Japan and South Korea.
Cree tops the list with a 40% share. The company entered the Chinese market earlier and pre-emptively with few competitors. At the same time, the company is also the only foreign LED chip giant with packaging and epitaxial processing workshops in China. Philips LumiLEDs is a world-renowned professional high-power LED manufacturer with a large share of the global market. Many chip companies in Japan and South Korea focus on backlighting and display applications.

2. The power-drive survey found that many companies manufacture their own power drives, and some of them are outsourced. Some of them are purchased from well-known foreign manufacturers in domestic branches. There are not many power sources purchased abroad. The localization ratio is 85%. Many self-produced power companies started out as electronic products, and there is a certain amount of technology accumulation in electronic technology. At present, the largest market share is Maoshuo's series of constant current and constant voltage LED high-power power supplies. Mingwei and Delta rank second and third.
Some well-known power supply manufacturers such as Huntkey are also interested in LED power supplies.

3. The localization ratio of other heat dissipation modules, lenses, reflectors, and casings is close to 100%, and most of them are self-produced or OEM. These products are relatively low in technical content.

LED street lamps are distributed throughout the country. According to the statistics of the catalogue, enterprises are mainly concentrated in the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta, and Delta Triangle. The other seven LED industry bases also have a certain distribution.

2. The number of installed lights is in the number of installed LED street lights (not limited to “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Milesâ€), which is basically the number of lights installed in enterprises that entered the market earlier. More lamps are installed in Shenzhen Deshida, Dongguan Qinshang and Weifang Zhongweiguang Electronics. According to the survey results, only 10% of companies with more than 10,000 lamps and nearly 70% of them under 5,000. (We only count the "large and medium" streetlight companies in the LED industry, those who are "playing" LED street lights do not count).
