[High-tech Conference] Hyun Shuozhi makes Zhang Qinglang: to meet the diversified intelligent wisdom of LED lighting

On December 22nd, the 2017 High-tech LED Annual Conference will take place at the Shenzhen Baoan Dunxi Road International Hotel. This year’s event is themed “The Smoke is Gradually Disappearing and Softening Strength, and the Deep Integration and New Opportunities are Tapped.” The conference aims to bring together industry leaders, experts, and professionals to discuss the future of LED technology and its evolving role in the global market. During the morning session titled “LED Packaging Equipment and Materials Special,” organized by Xin Yichang, Mr. Zhang Qinglang, Director of R&D at Hyun Shuo Zhi, delivered a keynote speech on “Intelligent Intelligence for Diversified LED Lighting.” In his presentation, he provided insights into the current state of China's LED lighting manufacturing sector and introduced Hyun Shuo Zhi’s automation solutions aimed at driving innovation and efficiency. Mr. Zhang highlighted that the domestic LED lighting market is still largely reliant on labor-intensive, low-end manufacturing, which results in lower value-added products and higher labor costs. He pointed out that this model makes Chinese companies less competitive compared to countries like India and Thailand. To address this challenge, he emphasized the need for companies to innovate their production models and better serve consumers through advanced manufacturing technologies. As traditional industries undergo transformation, intelligent production has become a critical requirement for enterprises. Intelligent manufacturing involves not only smart processes and equipment but also seamless communication between machines and products. Moreover, it requires strong collaboration across departments. Industry 4.0, with its cross-sector and cross-industry nature, demands a gradual and integrated approach, where cooperation among different fields and organizations is essential for long-term success. Looking ahead, Mr. Zhang outlined three key trends for the development of LED production line equipment. First, equipment integration—connecting single automated devices with enterprise ERP systems via EMS. This allows for better information management across the entire production line. Second, moving from isolated automation islands to fully integrated production lines that can adapt to new business needs. Third, the shift toward intelligent production, where flexibility and smart systems become crucial as labor costs rise. Intelligent production lines offer greater efficiency, product quality, and cost savings, making them a vital investment for manufacturers. Efficiency and cost reduction have always been major challenges in the LED lighting industry. In response, many Chinese assembly plants began adopting automated production lines as early as 2013, achieving up to a 50% reduction in assembly costs. These automated systems not only improve productivity and ensure consistent quality but also significantly reduce labor expenses. With the introduction of China’s “Made in China 2025” initiative, the benefits of automation are becoming even more apparent. For example, Hyun Shuozhi’s semi-automatic LED bulb assembly line reduces manual labor by over 70%, while a fully automated system cuts the workforce by more than 90%. Additionally, automation helps lower both direct and indirect costs, such as staff management and maintenance. A single bulb can save at least 0.5 yuan in production costs, and with an output of 9,000 units per day, the return on investment can be achieved within six months. Hyun Shuozhi’s approach to automation emphasizes flexibility and modularity. Their production lines are designed with modular stations that allow for quick assembly and disassembly, reducing setup time and complexity. This design enables rapid adaptation to customer product upgrades and changes, ensuring continuous alignment with market demands. In terms of performance, the double-station semi-automatic line can achieve a throughput of 1600–1800 pieces per hour, with an actual output of 1400–1500 pieces per hour and a yield stability of over 98%. Cost efficiency is also significantly improved, with fewer workers required and higher production capacity. Overall, the integration of intelligent and automated systems is reshaping the LED manufacturing landscape, offering sustainable growth and competitive advantages for companies willing to embrace innovation.
