Is the smart car coming into the supply chain ready?

With the development of technologies such as ADAS and 360-degree panoramic ring, smart cars have become a new selling point. Under the wave of the Internet of Things, security, comfort, economy and entertainment have become the new development direction of automotive electronics. How can the challenges of sensing, communication and security be solved? Are supply chain manufacturers ready for new opportunities?

Huaqiang Jufeng Electronic Enthusiasts held the Smart Vehicle Technology and Application Summit Forum on 6.30, inviting Huasheng, NXP China Automotive Semiconductor Business Development Manager, Yang Hong, Shanghai Core Communications Business Development Director, and Ray Zhu, Epson Vehicle Business Manager. More than a dozen of the industry's biggest names and veterans gave live speeches, bringing you the smart car market trends and technical solutions under the Internet of Things era.

NXP: the arrival of ADAS and driverless cars

NXP China Automotive Semiconductor Business Development Manager Hua Shengyi pointed out that 90% of the innovation in the automotive industry comes from innovation in the electronics industry. How to realize the intelligence of the car? How to achieve safe unmanned driving (ADAS)? How to make cars achieve energy saving and emission reduction? These three major directions are the hot topics of the current industry.

The core of ADAS hardware is the sensor (camera, radar) and processor, while the software core is the algorithm. Manager Hua Sheng believes that the market demand for millimeter wave radar will continue to grow, with a total demand of 50 million units and an average of 5-6 per vehicle. In the questioning session, Huasheng Manager further stated that the 77G millimeter wave radar is definitely the mainstream in the future. NXP and Freescale are the mainstream 77G RF suppliers in the world, covering short, medium and long distances. Google's first-generation experimental driverless car uses laser radar, and the second generation will work with NXP to use millimeter-wave radar. Currently there are 77G RF suppliers in Jiangsu and Anhui, but the quality is yet to be verified.

At the same time, V2X technology with "car-to-outside" information exchange as the main function is becoming a new bright spot of the Internet of Vehicles. It is a new application to promote the establishment of automotive networks after information entertainment. Hua Sheng manager demonstrated in the video that four cars were equipped with V2X equipment. During the driving process, emergency brake warning can be realized, speed limit reminder, when the first car brakes, the second car blocks, the third If the car is not visible, the driver can use the V2X to see the brake condition of the front car on the dashboard of the car to avoid traffic accidents; there are also roadblock reminders and road driving reminders. V2X allows the car to form fast communication with various objects and assist people in safe driving.

IDT: Wireless charging leads the future

IDT Business Development Manager Zhong Yingdong gave a detailed introduction to the current status of wireless charging technology and future development trends. Zhong Yingdong said: "The wireless charging market has already crossed a relatively difficult period. 2015-2016 will be a period of rapid development of wireless charging technology. Although the growth rate will slow down in the next few years, it still keeps rising."

Through the comparison of microwave technology, capacitive resonance, magnetic resonance (MR) and magnetic induction (MI) technology, Zhong Manager introduced the current status of wireless charging technology. Through comparison and various considerations, IDT finally chose magnetic induction technology. He also detailed the comparison of MR and MI technologies that are of interest. These two technologies work at different frequencies. Although MR can bring a better experience, the technology is not mature enough and the conversion efficiency is low. DC/DC conversion efficiency is as high as 87%, and the technology is more mature.

As the current market leader, IDT has a 70% market share. IDT offers three solutions for less than 3w, standard 5w and medium power 15w. Samsung's Galaxy S6, Marriott Hotel and IKEA all use IDT solutions.

Simcom: The development and application of wireless communication technology in automotive electronics

Yang Hong, Business Development Manager of Simcom (Shanghai Core Communication) first introduced the changes in speed and mobility during the development of wireless communication technology from 1G to 5G. Next, the standard system of wireless communication technology was explained in detail. Manager Yang believes that automotive electronics will eventually develop in the direction of intelligent transportation, and intelligent transportation includes the Internet of Vehicles.

Currently, LTE-V-based car networking business types include information entertainment related (V2N) and active security-traffic efficiency related (V2I/V2P). According to Manager Yang, Jianghuai and Zotye Motors have already used the LTE module to access the Internet. Last year, shipments reached 16 million.

As the best M2M supplier in Asia, Corecom provides wireless communication modules to help customers complete their end products. Manager Yang introduced: "One of the characteristics of our products is that different systems use the same package. The advantage of this is that it enables customers to achieve one design, multi-technology compatibility, save time and achieve smooth upgrade of technology."

For the future application of communication technology in M2M, Manager Yang believes that Cat 3 is the foundation at present. Cat 4 is sufficient for M2M. The narrowband technology will have a good development prospect in the Internet of Things market.
